With USP <800>, hospitals had a deadline to adopt new standards for handling hazardous drugs safely. These standards would help minimize the risk of exposure to healthcare workers, patients and the environment. We partnered with BD to create an integrated campaign to help hospitals become USP<800>-compliant well before time. Print, social media and digital ads drove attention to a microsite, where users could complete a self-assessment on their current practices. If they qualified, they could request a toolkit, the ‘HDS Safe Handling Practices Guide.’ In parallel, we also created sales tools for field reps to translate this into potential sales. The compliance deadline has now been extended, and the campaign continues to run and drive safety.
